ROCKCLIFFE CE PRIMARY SCHOOL

C5 Autumn Term 2018

During this half term we will be furthering our learning through the following:

We have developed our design and technology skills by creating our own Anderson Shelters. We had to consider the best design to support weight, be waterproof and structure.

We have delved in to the reasons for commemorating those who have fought and continue to fight to keep us all safe. We created our own poppy wreaths to commemorate those brave individuals (both past and present).

We have also created a Christmas Craft for display at the Rockcliffe Centre.

This second half term we will be developing our learning through the following areas:

Here is an example of the excellent Tudor portraits Class 5 have produced. They worked carefully focussing on size, proportion, scale and adding detail.

This week we have explored and researched different areas of Tudor exploration:

  • How did they travel?
  • What was life like for sailors?
  • What did they find and how did it change Britain?
  • What superstitions did they have?

We presented these to the class and gave each other feeback on the new information we had learned.

In our written work, we have focused on developing tension and suspense. Allowing the reader to be drip fed information about what is going to happen. Here we have used text mapping to retell a section of the narrative in groups.
