Year 4/5 2026 - 2027
Mrs Batey
Mrs Birch
Welcome to our class page! We are looking forward to a fabulous year with you all.
We are a class comprising of both Year 4 and 5, who are taught by Mrs Batey ( Monday and Tuesday) and Mrs Birch (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday).
Here is a little peak at our classroom environment-

PE
PE kit comprises of a white t-shirt and black shorts. Pumps can be worn inside. For outdoor PE, trainers are safest. In colder weather, the children can wear black jogging bottoms and their school jumper or hoodie. Long hair should be tied back and earrings should not be worn. PE days are to be confirmed.
Homework
Reading - Within the first week or two of term, we will be listening to each child read so I can allocate them a book-banded colour. Reading every day is advisable to help improve their fluency and comprehension. Strong reading skills also support learning across the curriculum including Maths. If you child is a reluctant reader, try to read the book-banded book 3 times a week and intersperse with reading books that they enjoy.
TTRS - All children have access to Times Table Rockstars and growing automaticity in these number facts helps support learning across a number of mathematical topics.
Year 4 children will have multipication check later in the year.
Spelling - Spelling homework will be sent home most weeks. The children who engage with this on a little and often basis often fare better than those who just practice the night before.
Additional home learning for Maths - Some children will get some Maths workbooks that they can use, alongside an adult at home, if they are finding a particular unit of work challenging.
