PE
Children should have their kits available at all times. Hair should be tied up and earrings removed. Staff cannot remove children's earrings so please ensure your child knows how to remove them.
Homework
It is an expectation that your child will read aloud 5 days a week. This should be a mix of school book-banded texts as well as books that are read for pleasure. When reading, please ask your child questions that will check their understanding. Often questions around the meaning of less familiar words and a character's feelings, motives and actions can really support your child's comprehension skills.
Most weeks, your child will receive a Maths and Spelling task which should be handed in the following week. Where appropriate, your child may get more specific targeted homework to help plug gaps in their learning (the timescale may be shorter for these but they should not be too onerous to complete).
The children have access to Times Table Rockstars and achieving fluency in these facts can make Maths much easier. If your child cannot read the time (particularly on analogue clock faces), it would be benefical for them to practice this skill at home.
As SATS approach, Year 6 may get additional homework to help them prepare for the upcoming tests.
